Skin is the longest and the most exposed organ of our body; and tends to fall prey to different medical conditions. Symptoms
Skin conditions have a wide range of symptoms. Itchy skin can either affect small areas, such as the scalp, an arm or a leg or it can cover the whole body. It can occur without any other noticeable changes on the skin. Or it may come with:
- Inflamed skin, Scratch marks, red or white raised bumps, spots or blisters
- Dry, cracked or peeling skin
- Leathery, rough or scaly patches
- Itchy, raised welts that appear minutes to hours after skin contact with an allergen
- Scaly, silvery, sharply defined skin patches that flake off commonly located on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back
- Hair loss may also occur in the area with the rash
- Itchiness lasts a long time and can be intense. On rubbing or scratching the area, it gets itchier.
Management
- Wash hands with soap and warm water frequently.
- Avoid direct contact with the skin of other people who have an infection.
- Don’t share personal items like blankets, hairbrushes, or swimsuits.
- Sleep for at least 7 hours each night.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid excessive physical or emotional stress.
- Eat a nutritious diet
